Recorder Karate Letter
As part of music class this year the grades 4-6 students will be learning to play the soprano recorder. Please purchase a recorder (for you to keep) for $8.70 (including tax) using the cash online system. If you missed the deadline you will need to purchase a recorder from an outside vendor. Recorders will be given to students on the first day of recorder instruction.

If your child has a good quality recorder they can bring it school and use it during music class. I do not recommend Dollar Store or Walmart recorders as their quality will make learning difficult and frustrating for your child.

Instruction on the recorder will begin on the first school week of January. Please ensure your child has a recorder or has purchased one from cash online before the 1st week back after the break. Below you may view sheet music for your child to practice at home and view more information on recorder karate.

Practice tips

1. Cover all the holes tightly – leaks cause squeaks!
2. The left hand is placed over the right hand
3. Sit with both feet flat on the ground and good posture
4. Follow the music online as you play the recorder
5. Blow gently with "warm" air
6. Practice at least 15 minutes per day
